Themba Mbuyisa is a contemporary photographer and visual artist from Johannesburg, South Africa.
Biography
Moss Moeng was born in Diepkloof, Soweto in 1994. Moeng began his photography journey at The Market Photo Workshop in Newtown, Johannesburg, in 2014, starting with the foundation course. He continued with the Intermediate and Advanced Courses in Photography, where he honed his skills and developed his unique way of seeing and interpreting the world through his lens.
After graduating, Moeng joined Lightfarm Reproduction Studio, where he currently works as a professional Photographic Retoucher and fine art printer. In 2015, he co-founded a photographic collective called BLD with a group of friends. This collective focuses on collaborative efforts and sharing photographic knowledge with communities, while also delving into personal archives to uncover and preserve stories.
Over the years, Moeng has developed several photo essays that have been exhibited both within South Africa and internationally, including at galleries, fairs, and museums such as Kalashnikov, Lizamore and Associates, Agog Gallery, The Turbine Art Fair, and Brandt 13 Museum in Denmark. He has also participated in mentorship programs under the guidance of renowned photographers John Fleetwood and Jodi Bieber.
Moeng's work was recently featured in a book titled "The Journey, 10 Years of African Photography" by Simon Njami. This publication highlights a decade of the Goethe Institute Photography Masterclasses and showcases the work of the photographers involved. Moeng's inclusion in this book is a testament to his significant contributions to the field of photography.
